Alex Orrelle is first and foremost, an artist and a storyteller.  His keen sense of style and ability to create unforgettable character performances are his trademarks.  When Alex and his wife Michelle founded Crew 972 in 2005, the London-born, Tel Aviv-raised animation director fulfilled a lifelong dream of creating an animation studio of his own.

Prior to opening Crew 972, he worked for three years at Pixar Animation Studios as an animator, working on the Academy Award ®-winning hit films, The Incredibles (2004), and Finding Nemo (2003), as well as the Academy Award ®-nominated short films, Boundin’ (2003) and Mike’s New Car (2002).

Just before joining Pixar, Alex served as an animator at Manex Entertainment, primarily working on pre-visualization and character animation for the visual effects sequences on the blockbuster hit, The Matrix Reloaded (2003).

His first job in the industry was working for the Tel-Aviv based multimedia company, Pixel, where he worked as a 2D animator on the CD-Rom project, The Cartoon Guide to Physics.

Alex holds a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he attended Pixar’s animation program. While in school, he directed the short film, Freeware.  In 2001, Freeware won the audience choice award at the Sundance Online Film Festival.

Alex recently completed work as the Animation Supervisor on the live-action/computer animated 3D adventure, “Yogi Bear,” which was released worldwide by Warner Bros in December, 2010. Alex was born in London and holds a UK passport.
